This is an attempt to list things I intend to watch(or read) or have watched(or read) at some point and to review those.

I know myself well enought to know this will never be updated regularly but every now and then I might add new things that I liked; no prommies

Also i read/watch things at a very slow pace so yeah this will remain empty for a while

The order is not specific and ratings are based on how much I liked it, from a personal standpoint, and does not strictly reflect media quality.

Anime

Revolutionary Girl Utena

Do you have any idea how hard it is to write an analysis for Utena? know pretty knowledgeable people who couldnt do it (I certainly cannot). But here we are, I gave it a good rating so might as well justify it. Utena is a subversion of the magical girl genre, and above everything else, it is a critique of gender roles. It uses the allegory of fairy tales to construct an idea of a prince that men need to be, and the subversion is actually merely not in the fact that Utena is the one seeking to be a prince, its in the fact that it is the very idea of "a prince" that people must follow is harmful and alienating. It is an hallmark on queer media and definitelly recommended to people who like anime. Oh also its about lesbians who turn into cars.

Neon genesis evangelion

A great show for people who are annoying (and I know I just hit a wasp nest with this one).First of all, the creator is a racist asshole, something the fans blindly ignore because they like the show, which is not even that good to begin with. Evangelion is the kind of show that appears to mean something but actually doesnt. Its a pile of random symbolism as an attempt to look cool and mysterious but actually the main point of the show is about wanting to raw dogs your own mother. I will, however, admit it does succeed at just that, it does look cool and all. Nonetheless, it is mediocre at best.

Black lagoon

It is a hit or miss. It does have it's good moments, but is also saturated with the general 2000s edginess which I think is kinda cool at a moderate ammount but it does get a bit annoying at points during the show. It also suffers from the fact that Rock is annoying and an asshole honestly, I can forgive asshole, but annoying? unforgivable! Thats the worst thing a character could be. It could have developed the oher characters more with the screentime they gave to Rock and it would have been a far better show. Still, it was a decent show.

7

Akira

I'll be real with you, no clue what the movie is supposed to be about. The animation is good and the story is entertaining, Ill give it that. So, if you consider a "did I have fun?" factor, yeah it was pretty solid, but it'd be hard to be rewatching it.

Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood

a) The manga was better imho; b) Its definitely better than the original anime

Manga

Pluto

The story is definitely convoluted, which makes it hard to understand what exactly is going on sometimes, and it does not give time to develop the characters in a meaningful way. The story, which consists of 8 volumes, could have very confortably been written in, say, 13, which would have given time to actually develop the thousand events and characters that Pluto introduces. It is a reimagination of the original Astro Boy, and it seems it wasnt meant to be more than a one volume thing originally, which explains why everything seems so rushed. Overall tho? it is actually an interesting story and does have impactful moments, I just wish there was more stuffing in-between those moments.

Tandem Lover

Short and sweet yuri. Its a series of short stories; theyre good. Not much to say about it honestly. If you like mecha and cute yuri stuff, do give it a try.

Yokohama Shopping Log

This manages to have a very interesting fantasy post apocaliptical world and well thought of characters, which does make it stand out to me. Autistic gay robots are such a treat, and Alpha feels so genuine as a character. The art is beautiful, with a focus on the environment, rather than the characters themselves. I particularly like the airplane moments, wonder if it is a real model. God there is so much I want to talk about this but the words simply wont come, so heres a keysmash, interpret at your own will: kfldjsfakdjfdlaskfjdslfkjfdiofh. It does leave a few loose ends which sucks, I really wish they would release a new volume honestly.

Bastard!!

Do you ever wake up and think "God, I hate women so much its unbelievable"? In that case, this might be the manga for you. There isn't much about it that redeems its major flaws, so yeah, it just takes the L

The Magical Revolution of The Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady

Honestly? I havent finished reading this. But it's not that great so far, so I'll probably take my time. I was recommended it, and expected it to be good, but ehh. I actually would have liked it more if I had poor expectations from the start, but since I had good expectations it just didnt really hit. Its just... generic. Nothing about it stands out from the thousand other strories that do exactly this, except maybe for the yuri, but the yuri here isnt even that good. I do kinda like the chemistry between the main couple, and nothing about it is straight up bad - just not that good. also -1 point because the long ass title ruined this page's layout

Fire Punch

This manga was made by Tatsuki Fujimoto, which has become known for his other work, Chainsaw Man. Fire Punch, however, is certainly my favorite of his works and is definitely more mature, while keeping the whimsy that is characteristic of his writting. It does take some skill to maintain something at least somewhat funny, while keeping it both phylosofical and actually very tragic. There is certainly a few youtube essayists who analized this work extensively, this is not really my goal here, but I will remark the message of importance in community and of not giving up on life is actually very touching. The start is a tad generic, but that is intentional, it continuousy gets more creative as the story goes on, and it is very good at hooking you in into it. An absolute recommendation, as long as you are ok with an ever present gore, swearing, existential dread, rape, and trajedy awaiting at every corner of the manga.
